Mademoiselle really enjoyed interacting with the vendors as she picked out perfume and soaps for herself and friends. She didn't miss her students as much while she thought about how nice everything smelled at the stand.
Mademoiselle also enjoyed sampling the local specialty: nougat. It's similar to divinity with almonds mixed in. She bought a little square, and she munched on it a little. That seemed to help chase the blues away as she reflected on all the fun her students would be having with their families.
Although she wasn't with her students, Mademoiselle finally cracked a smile as she found a perfect pair of French shoes she could wear.
Of course, a pair of shoes can never replace her students. But she understood as she was paying for the shoes that her students were having lots of terrific adventures with their families.
Walking to the local department store also took Mademoiselle's mind off the absence of her students. The merchandise would be a good distraction for her.
Mademoiselle has a lot more retail therapy to do while she waits for her students. They return at the end of the week. Will she have any money left by the time they come back? Her wallet might be empty but her heart will be full when she sees them again!
