We had group tickets for 10:30 p.m., so that meant we could skip waiting in the 3-hour long individual ticket line and go straight to the top. Of course, first, we had to pass through security and ride an elevator up to the second level. Tickets to the 3rd level can only be purchased on the 2nd level, and the line for the summit was too long to do with a big group. Oh well. Next time!
Once we got to the top, the view was spectacular. Here is the Ecole Militare and the Champs de Mars from the vantage point of the Eiffel Tower.
The architecture is simply stunning. Another amazing aspect of the Tower is that every hour on the hour, the Tower lights up and sparkles. It always brings gasps and cheers from the public waiting below.
After spending about one and a half hours at the 2nd level, we descended, met at Pilier Nord to regroup and go back to the hotel. Of course, we stopped for a snack so that Mademoiselle could get her chocolate & banana crepe, found the metro station (one of our last subway rides in the city), and then we marched back to our hotel rooms to go to bed. It was about 1 a.m. by the time we returned. What a long but wonderful day!
