We had a terrific, tres Normand meal at the hotel restaurant this evening -- omelette, roasted lamb, french fries, cheese, and dessert. Laura started off with the omelette and then switched to the vegetable soup which she enjoyed.
(L to R) Lea, Maya, and Shannon seemed to like their omelette (they tried it and said it was "comme ci, comme ca" or "so-so"). The Normand Omelette is different from an American one. It's fluffy, very big, and somewhat runny. (Like Laura, I switched to the soup after I had a bite.) But it's always good to try new things.
Carly was very adventurous. Since she's a vegetarian, she got to sample the moules, a delicacy in France. They are mussels, and she had to figure out how to eat them first since she had never eaten them before. She was a good sport, though, and she tried a few. They were also "comme-ci, comme-ca." Traveling is a good time to try new foods!
Carrie appreciated her omelette even if it's not quite what we eat at home.
After dinner, we always ask Mademoiselle what's next on the agenda. She whips out her big binder with all the information to tell us. The students have free time until 11:00 p.m. Then they have to be back at the hotel for the evening. Tomorrow we tour Mont St. Michel and then we drive to St. Malo to meet our French families for the homestay! The adventure continues!
